THE HOMETOWN HAZARD BY DAWN LANUZA - A BOOK REVIEW :')

THE HOMETOWN HAZARD BY DAWN LANUZA

Synopsis:

Jules Coronado has been away from her hometown for almost a decade but when an intruder breaks in to her childhood home, she finds herself coming back.
Changes evidently took place in her small town, including her childhood best friend’s younger brother, Kip – now tall, slightly scruffed, all grown up and caught climbing into their garden wall.
Kip Villamor has a mission and despite Jules’ doubts, they team up: going on fieldtrips, tackling unsuspecting men, and trespassing offices to dig up dirt. But Jules has secrets of her own, one that might be exposed – unless she keeps her walls up. But climbing walls are Kip’s forte, remember?

Will her secrets keep her on his side, or will it force her to disappear again?

I was given a chance to read and review The Hometown Hazard by Ms. Dawn Lanuza. And it is a quick read. I finished it in a day! As much as I love reading, it is rare for me to finish a book in a day, especially in the middle of the semester. But I just can’t put it down. I always have this urge to continue reading because I might miss something. And the plot. Man, the plot. I will always have a soft spot for romance mysteries. I just love it. I sooo love it.

Anyway, I love the fact that the mystery was dropped at the first sentence of the book. I repeat. First. Sentence.

“Something was missing”

That got my attention. I am just not drawn into books which started the main plot in 105th page. (That is not accurate. It may take longer than that. Kidding!) But my point is, this book is direct to the point. (Pun intended, in case you did not notice.) I was never bored with this book. I laughed and cried and it made me imagine a lot of things. And of course, realize a lot of things about life. I won’t elaborate because I might spoil someone. And I want y’all to experience the whole package!

I just love every page of this book. I love how independent and very outgoing the hero and heroine are. And man, I so lovee how the girl can protect herself. And those simple tasks that they need to do? They are very realistic. Even how to got away with it. It’s not one of those books who solve mysteries by doing something out of this world.

The chemistry!! The. Chemistry. I can feel it in every word of this book. At first I was hesitant because I was not very fond of the guy being slightly younger than the girl. (I know, that’s very ‘old-ish’ of me.) But it was written very beautifully, I did not even care. Their chemistry is very genuine. I fell in love with them. Adding the fact that Kip is a charmer. *siiiiigh* I will always have a soft heart for humorous bad boys. Man, my dream guy is a fictional character again. Poor me! *taps my own shoulder*

And of course, I will never forget to post my best ever favorite scenes and quotes! Some are funny and some may be taken seriously. Lol. These are all spoiler-free in my own opinion. Haha! Enjoooy!

“I caught his eye and headed to him, grabbing the pen and the highlighter from my bag.

He looked at them suspiciously as I handed them to him, ‘You were planning to take these home?’

I shrugged, “Force of habit’, sliding pens into my  bag, ‘ I tend to lose a lot back then.’

“’Visiting some old friends,’ Kip answered for me.

‘I didn’t know you and Juliana had friends from way back.’

‘No,’ Kip shook his head. ‘I meant old, as in literally.’”

“There are two kinds of people: those who just let life happen to them and those who make it.”

“I think it’s possible for you to love someone and not necessarily like him or her at times.”

Like that was the easiest thing to do. But whatever. Those who can’t do. Preach.”

And that’s it!

I know some of it may not be as funny for you as it was for me. But that was maybe because you haven’t read the book yet. Because if you do, you’d have a good laugh!

This is my first time reading Ms. Dawn Lanuza’s work and I was not disappointed. I am sooo looking forward to read more of her books. And you should, too!

And because of all that, I am definitely giving A Hometown Hazard a rate of…….

 5 READERS!! YEYY!
