TIGER LILY BY JODI LYNN ANDERSON - A BOOK REVIEW :')

TIGER LILY BY JODI LYNN ANDERSON

Synopsis:

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair...

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up.

This is the first book that I've read where the speaker is not the heroine or the hero. At first, I was hesitant. I was not sure if I am going to like that kind of writing. But I gave it a chance. And boy, I was not disappointed. In fact, I loved it. I love how Tinker Bell describes everything. I enjoyed  imagining the story through Tinker Bell's eyes, it's like I'm watching a movie! Tinker Bell is hilariously cute. I have listed below some parts of the book where I thought Tinker Bell is being funny without trying to.
*This is spoiler free (i think, haha)*

"I hated her, of course. And I had ways of letting her know. I tried to sting her at least once a day: no small feat, considering stinging can be quite painful and exhausting for a faerie."
"I sat on the log beside her and thought about pulling her hairs, even her eyelashes."
"I was in the rafters dealing with troubles of my own. I was carrying a raindrop to keep in a little hole in the wood, so I could drink from it at my leisure. But each raindrop I lifted kept falling apart. Water is so delicate."
"I secretly spit in Curly's jar when he wasn't looking."
"...when they were on a walk, with me lugging a tiny piece of pollen to stick in Wendy's nose, with a plan of inducing a large quantity of mucus to appear.."

I know, you must think I'm a sadist for loving those scenes but Tinker Bell is just adorable. I never thought I would like her this much. But then, I never thought I would hate Wendy this much.

Going back (haha!), another thing I love about this book is that it gave me a roller coaster feeling. I always knew that this is a painful book. I thought I was prepared for whatever will happen in this story. But then again, it was wrong. Just like my love for Wendy Darling. I laughed, cried, was shocked, was scared, and was embarrassed. And that is something that will prevent you from putting this book down.

I will share something personal. I shed a bucket of tears, on behalf of Tiger Lily. I am telling you this now, Tiger Lily is one hell of a tough girl. She is tougher than any macho boys out there. She should be given the title: "The toughest of them all". I sobbed for an hour because of her story (slightly spoiler-y alert, if you are sensitive to something that is so close to being a spoiler, scroll down to the next paragraph now) and she never shed a tear! I hated it sometimes. Once, I thought she was creepy (please forgive me *kneels*) It's like she is a mask that doesn't show any other expression aside from the one she was given. But thanks to Tinker Bell (i am so in love with her), her lack of expression was compensated by her true feelings. It just took me some time to get used to her being expressionless.

And Peter Pan and Tiger Lily's relationship (this is not a spoiler since it is given in the synopsis, just giving a heads up lol). I don't know how to describe it, They are two really different yet so alike people. Sometimes I feel like they are a match made in heaven, sometimes I think that they doesn't fit at all. Sometimes they complement each other, sometimes they clash. That's what made them unique. And that's what made me love them and ship them so hard. I am always craving for more moments of them together. I think I will never stop shipping them. And the lost boys. They are so adorable! Despite their scary reputation, they are very vulnerable. I love them so much, especially Nibs. I believe you know why if you've read the book. I just love every minute Tiger Lily spends with them. So if you are just about to read the book, never ever doubt Tinker Bell when she said that this is not like a love story you've ever heard.

Lastly, the best thing I love about this book is the friendship between Tinker Bell and Tiger Lily. That is so #friendshipgoals. I won't say anymore about this to let you decide for yourself what kind of friendship the two have.

Aaaaand, here are some of the best quotable quotes that is worth to be quoted with quotations that I encountered in this book.
*I still believe that it is spoiler free

"She was like a bandage on his heart, and she tried to be the best bandage she could be..."
"Every kind of love, it seems, is the only one. It doesn't happen twice."
"To not do what you can to protect someone, that's cowardly."

All in all I am rating this book.........
